Effects of intracerebroventricular injection of histamine and H1, H2 receptor antagonists on electrocardiographic parameters in broiler chickens
Authors
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to assess the effects of exogenous histamine and H1 and H2 central receptorson electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters, heart rate and mean electrical axis in broiler chickens. For thispurpose, Ross broiler chickens (750-800 g weight) received intracerebroventricularly (ICV) histamine. Moreover, to determine the receptors involved in histamine-induced alterations in ECG changes, H1 and H2blockers were administered to histamine-treated chickens. All ECGs were standardized at 1 mV = 20 mm,with paper speed of 50 mm/sec. Leads І, ІІ, ІІІ, aVR, aVL and aVF were recorded. Injection of histamine(200 and 300 μg) decreased the duration of T wave and QRS complex and elevated the heart rate ascompared to the control group (P

full textA Survey on Electrocardiographic Parameters in Broiler Chickens Following the Intracerebroventricular Injection of Melatonin
Objective- The pineal gland and its principal hormone melatonin play an important role in the circadian organization in birds. However, little is known about the role of melatonin in cardiac activity of broiler chicken. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of intracerebroventricular injection of melatonin in electrocardiographic parameters, heart rate and mean electri...
full textEffects of chlorpheniramine (histamine H1 receptor antagonist) on food and water intake in broiler chickens in hunger and satiety
The role of histamine in the regulation of food and water intake in mammals and birds of the review, this study evaluated the effects of intraperitoneal administration of chlorpheniramine as histamine H1-receptor antagonist, in broiler chicks on feed intake and satiety in water and was hungry. 32 male Ross broiler chicks reared in groups of four weeks, 16 samples (control and test) were then in...

full textThe role of central endogenous histamine and H1, H2 and H3 receptors on food intake in broiler chickens
The role of endogenous histamine and H1, H2 and H3 central receptors on food intake in broiler chickenswas investigated. For this purpose, a probe was used to manipulate the concentration of endogenoushistamine by intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of thioperamide, an H3 receptor antagonist, and R-α-methylhistamine, an H3 receptor agonist and subsequently the effects of brain histaminergic...
full textIntracerebroventricular Injection of Histamine Induces State-Dependency through H1 Receptors
The aim of the present study was to investigate whether and by which mechanism; histamine can induce state-dependent retrieval of passive avoidance task. The pre-training or pre-test intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) injection of histamine (20µg/mouse) impaired retrieval, when it was tested 24 h later. In the animals, which retrieval was impaired due to histamine pre-training administration, pre...
